Oh yeah, will one of these fit in an Antec 900 case?

If you have a Quad and intend to o/c then the TRUE is definitely what you want.

More pipes allows for more heat transfer capacity before saturation occurs. This means that at higher TDP's you will have a lower delta between idle and fully loaded conditions. The curve is quite dramatic and you should always stay on the safe side to prevent sudden climbs in temperature under harsh conditions. The TRUE gives more margin. For a dual core or AMD X2 there will be little difference between the two.

I was looking at the 120 extreme myself but now thinking about the Noctua NH-U12P due to the AT review Noctua NH-U12P: Top Performance AND Silence (since it's a lot cheaper for me after counting getting a good fan)


P.S. I do wish websites, even the ones which are usually quite fussy, would stop calling "low-noise" cooling "silent". Silent means silent, which can be expected to require no moving parts, not merely "quieter than you'd expect for such good performance". "Can't be heard over typical PC noise" doesn't count either since if you're so fussed about noise, you'll have gone to lengths to keep the rest of the PC quieter too.

This may sound like a dumb question...but I'm having trouble searching for "TRUE cpu cooler," without knowing some other search terms that aren't regular words.

Can anyone help me out.

@JR, yes it should fit but you may have to remove the side fan.

between the two review articles yes, but "All tests use our new cooling test bed" on the NH-U12P review, so should be an even comparison. Come to think of it, they dont actually say whether they used the fan from the NH-U12P on the TRUE (which ships without a fan), but based on their other cooling articles I'd give benefit of the doubt that they did.

The tests were repeated on the new test bed for current datapoints HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that it's an even comparison. I'm not going to climb on my soap box yet again about heatsink reviews but, when comparing heatsinks from the anandtech review please keep in mind that if you have a better flowing case, the margin of victory for certain heatsinks will change, and dramatically, do not take AT's or for that matter ANY reviews site numbers as final or as concrete. If I didn't already have three projects on the line-up and a blood sucking bitch stealing half of my money I'd consider doing a heatsink review that actually shows the merits of the heatsink itself and not x heatsink with y fan in z case like just about every review on the net.

I have the ultra 120 extreme lapped and i love it, lowered my temps 10 degrees,and yes it will fit in the 900 case.

More heatpipes and higher cost. You'll probably see a 1-2C difference max which is really...completely negligible.

My internet experience is better with the TRUE and that is no lie. It's just about the pipes.
