Thermalright Ultra-120 or Scythe Ninja Plus Rv.B

Most reviews I've seen rate the Ultra-120 at or near the top(disregarding the Tuniq Tower).

Anyone have either of those coolers and would like to share their experience?

With a high speed fan, those two heatsinks are virtually identical. With a low speed fan, the Ninja outcools the Ultra-120 by a fair amount. So, it really depends on which fan you plan on using with them.

Alright how about compared to the Big Typhoon?? I have that currently but I have to run it with the case open because temps go up by 10 celcius with the case closed. I'm guessing it's because the top of the Big Typhoon is so close to the case cover so it doesn't get proper airflow.

You think the Ultra-120 would make a difference with the air blowing right out of the case? I think I would prefer the Ultra-120 over the Ninja since it seems a bit smaller.

To give you a bit of an idea....

Ninja PLus rev B (with 100cfm Antec 3 120mm fan) on my E6600@3.2ghz....1.4v load

100%load for weeks (F@H)

Coretemp 46-50c
easytune 5 = 38c

Calculates out at that OC to be 91watts


Ninja PLus rev A (with 100cfm Antec 3 120mm fan) on my QX6700@3.2ghz....1.33v load

100%load for weeks (F@H)

Coretemp 66-71c
easytune 5 = 54c

Calculates out at that OC to be 152watts

All closed systems.....

The 120mm fans wer going 2000rpm. It was pushing 100cfm but I dont think they were loud. I still hear ther X1900xt heatsink over it...

If you're considering Scythe then I'd rather get the Infinity, a tower would also solves the problem of not enough airflow to the fan like the Big Typhoon. Perfomance is on par/maybe slightly better than the Tuniq Tower.
