THERMALRIGHT to design a new mount bracket for AM2 socket to fit current heatsinks confirmed!!

Yeah guys, yesterday I picked up the phone and called to Thermalright's support.

Me: Hi! I already own an XP-120 mounted on a socket 939 board, I'm planning to update to socket AM2 when boards hit the streets in June and I've already seen how different the new socket is going to be so I wonder if Thermalright will design a new mounting bracket to fit the current heatsink models such as the XPs into the new socket AM2 boards....

Thermalright guy called Bob: Yes, of course we will!! Don't worry!!

Me: Oh great, thank you!
Bob: Your welcome, bye!
Me: Bye!

So you, Thermalright heatsinks' owners, don't ebay them because they will fit the new AM2 socket boards....Hope this made you a little bit happier today....!

Have a nice day guys!!

what isn't clear from your conversation is if they will sell the brackets separately. i would surmise that any company won't miss the chance of selling their products to the same customer over again given the opportunity.

so, maybe what bob was saying was "yes, we'll have new brackets for the am2 mounted on new xp-120's so we hope you'll buy from us again"

😉

No, I asked him about the brackets only.
Realise that for socket 775 you had to buy the special bracket since the day the XPs were released and it was sold separately with no problems dude....
They are not going to force us to buy another XP, be sure of that.

TY for asking TR and TY for posting thier responce.
I have the XP-90Cu and this is good news indeed. Not once have I read a complaint about TR's customer service. Thier products are well made, perform well, the packaging servives shipping well, thier web site is easy to navigate and offers well presented, easy to understand support.

Thats great to hear. TR is great. They once sent me a brand new mounting bracket for my xp-90 when I lost the other one for free!

As should be the case.....they should charge for that bracket since its NOT there fault you changed CPU`s!!

🙂

Yeah, TR will be selling the new AM2 socket brackets separately, we´ll have to buy them of course, that's not their fault...in fact they understand us, consumers who already own a TR XP or SI heatsink but have no bracket for incoming AM2 socket.
I think they are being fair...
