wait, so I know there are two versions of the SLK-800. The a and the u but does the non-bolt-down version fit for the P4?

No, the non-bolt dwon version (SLK800A) only has clips so it only mounts to a sokcet with lugs.

No...

SLK800(A) - Has a three pronged clip that fits AMD socket 462, and I assume socket 370 as well

SLK800(U) - Has a bolt on mechanism that fits both AMD, and P4, assuming you have the mounting holes

The standard P4 heatsink is designed to clip onto the plastic bracket that is mounted to the mobo. Look at this picture.

A lot of aftermarket P4 heatsinks utilize the four holes that are left in the mobo after you remove the stock Intel retaining cage. See the four white pins in that picture? Those are the four holes that go through the mobo to hold the stock Intel cage onto the board. Once that cage is removed you use the holes to bolt your aftermarked heatsink onto the board.

Here's a picture of a Thermalright SLK900U mounted onto an Intel mobo.
