Hello,
I am preparing to install a Thermalright SLK-800U on a Pentium 4 board and would like some clarification on the procedure. First of all, which is better, installing the standoffs and spring loaded screws or using the clips on the standard P4 retainer? See Thermalright's procedure for details. Their diagrams are poor but it appears that for the standoff directions, the Socket 478 convertor pieces are installed to the bottom of the black skirt around the heatsink? Any tips and better instructions would be greatly appreciated. I found this: Overclocker Cafe installation but they only mention the P4 clip method, which sounds easy enough but is the standoff method better? Thanks.
