I'm thinking of upgrading to an XP 2200+, not planning to OC, so should the above cooler with an 80mm fan fitted diagonally be enough?

thanks

im sure it would, since the new XP2200+ processors are a smaller die, .13 if im not mistaken. they run much cooler then the older AMD chips.

Umm... a lot cooler? Not really. The Xp2200+ is only 4-5W cooler than an XP2100+ Palomino.

Coupled with the smaller contact surface, the XP2200+ runs hotter with the vast majority of heatsinks.

The SK6 is only rated up to about 1.5Ghz and would be borderline for an XP2200+, even with a 80mm 50cfm fan. I am using the SK6 with a 80mm 50cfm fan on an XP1600+ overclocked and it does do pretty good.

I am going to a XP2100+ with a SLK-800 shortly on my other system and for that chip would recommend that you consider it also.
