Hi!

I'm just wondering: I have an Athlon 1,33MHz and a GlobalWin WBK68, and the noise is irritating. OK, I know it ain't nothing like a Delta Black Label, but anyway.

I've kind of decided on getting a Thermalright SK6 HS, but what about the fan?

Of course I would love to get one of the Papst <20dB(A) fans, but will it be sufficient. They have one 60mm rated at 16dB(A)/12CFM, but will that be enough?!?

The Alpha 8045 is also a possibility, but I'm not exactly thrilled about the installation procedure.

Overclocking is not an issue.

thx,

I wouldn't use that 12 cfm fan. The sk6 really works its best when it has a lot of airflow it really wasn't designed for use with low cfm fans. I wouldn't use a fan with less than 27 cfm with an sk6 30 or 32 cfm would be a better compromise on noise versus performance in my opinion.

I have a SK6 with the 30cfm Delta. It's not too loud, good performance/noise ratio. you can pick one up at crazypc

I'd get the Alpha PAL8045 with a decent 80mm fan. The installation is simple and easy. More steps than it takes to pry on a clip, but much less "invasive" and installs with much less force. Also, its performance is on par with the MC462, the mofo of all socket A HSFs ;) IMO, the SK6 is old newss :)
