Thermalright SK-6 + Panaflo ?

Hi. i'm looking to replace my Volcano 7 with an SK-6, the v7 is so frickin loud. is there anything wrong with using a 21db 80mm panaflo for this ? i just want effective cooling with the least noise. i'm using the Soltek sl-75drv2 board w/ an XP 1800 and i don't plan on OverClocking. any input is appreciated. thanks. -ALAN

oh yeah......what about just popping a Panaflo into the Volcano ? think it would make that much of a difference over the stock fan already in there ?

The sk-6 seems geared toward using a 60mm fan. I'm not saying you couldn't put an 80mm on it but if you put the 80mm on the volcano 7 assuming that stats I've read are correct the V7 changes it's speed to 5000rpm 53 cfm@39db when the temp reaches 35C degrees. If you're running above that normally then adding the Panaflo 80mm would have a big difference going to 24 cfm@21db but the V7 at 25C is running at 2900 rpm 46cfm@27db. If you're near that I doubt you'll hear a such noticable difference between the TT fan and the Panaflo. If you've already got the SK-6 w/ 38cfm@46.5db you should give that a listen to see what a real pain that fan is. But since you have all the stats I can think of you can pretty much make your own decision.
Stats gathered for V7 at SVC, SK-6 from Thermalright
Hope this helps some.

I'm using a Panaflo L1A on my SK6 to cool my Tbird 1.33 @1.46 very quiet setup.Works fine for now but I think when things heat up this summer I'll have to add a faster fan.

I have the same setup on my XP1800+ @1.610. Keeps me at 48C under full load.

Personally, I don't like the way an 80mm fan attaches to the SK-6, but I have only heard good things about the way it cools. I would say go for it.

I have a Tt 60mm 4550 RPM fan on a SK-6. The 1800+ @ 1650 is around 53C under full load.

I like this setup a lot as cooling is decent yet it's not that loud.

I recently switched out my V7 fan for a 21db panflo. So far I've been really happy my temps did go up, but I still think they are decent. 42C at Idle and 46C at Full Load.
