I wonder if you could take a pipe-bender, and fit the HS fins diretly to the fan on the back of the case.

Most heatpipes do not respond well to attempts to bend them. Feel free to try though, if it's possible, i might get one myself.

Correct. These heatpipes in particular have very unique and very specific contouring inside to assist/enable the liquid to travel to the ends regardless of which direction they are pointing. Thermalright has said not to bork with them at all.
