Thermalright 'n SK-6 2600+ too hot ?

i just upgraded from a 1.2 to a 2600+ barton. i thought my thermalright sk-6 would be sufficient for cooling but now i'm not so sure. i noticed that whenever i run mutiple applications, i get the dreaded blue screen.i've been toying with this problem by changing the motherboard (shuttle an35n), pc3200 ddram , and even the cpu. i've come to the conclusion that the cause is either incompatibility issues or.. HEAT. it's showing 62' idle temp. i used to get around 42' on my 1.2. also, it seems like the heatsink is clipped on flat on the cpu. the artic silver touches both...can anyone help me with this ? many thanks

also, does anyone kno if the thermalright slk 900 fits the shuttle an35n

i think my sk6+ was rated for a 2500+ which means your smaller sk6 is not going to cool that 2600+ very well. you need a bigger heatsink fast.

well i've underclocked my cpu to a 1200XP~ and get temp of 50'

also, the blue screen error shows:
0x0000008e (0xc0000005, .... )
in win32k.sys

i've already tried replacing the ram today so it shouldn't be the ram unless i picked up ANOTHER faulty one

62*C @ idle? Man, you not only need a bigger, better heatsink, you need to buy some canned air from Wal-Mart! My Athlon 2.4B idles at 42*C, when I'm running it @ 2.4Ghz. Right now, it's idling @ 36, since I boot to Windows with it only @2.1Ghz. Both of your processors really should idle around that or below, because I run mine @1.775 volts, so I can OC from Windows anytime I want. Of course, you could leave the case open, and heat your house with it this winter! 😉

how about contact point of the Heat Sink and the CPU? Try reapplying thermal grease and fix in on tighter

i think the heatsink is properly seated b/c the heatsink is HOT when i touch it. also, i'm running at 1000XP (underclocked from 2600+) @ 49' idle and so far no errors , tried playing call of duty to test it out.

Why not just get the Thermalright SLK-900a from newegg? They have them in stock, and they ship Fedex... They're selling them for $35, which isn't too bad. And, they have the Vantec 92mm Tornado's for $10. I guarantee you that your 2600 won't be a bit hot, with that combination!
