Originally I had Thermaltake Big Typhoon with Pentium D 945@3.74GHz. The temp was 44-45C idle. I reseated the heatsink many times but the results were still the same.

Finally, I decided to replace the Big Typhoon with Thermalright HR-01. My configuration is push-pull orientation (for air flow). Now the Pentium D 945@3.74GHz is idle at 29-30C.

It is an amazing result and I'm still being WOW-ed!

:D

hahaha LOL will that fit in my case?

Yeah the new revision has a fan clip for optional fan. I thought a passive heatsink usually doesnt like high air flow, but I notice when I put my tri-cool fan into medium setting the cpu drops 2C.

I dunno, I have the HR-01 as well. Its a good heatsink. However judging by your initial temps, it looks like you may have had it applied wrong or something. There shouldnt be that much of a temp difference. If you check benchmarks, the typhoon should have lower temps than the hr-01. I dunno, that would be my guess though. I had the scythe ninja before my HR-01 and they both had almost identical temps. I would have thought the typhoon has the lowerst temps because of how the fan blows directly down, unlike the hr-01 which blows side to side.

That was my reaction WOW! I have a Antec P180. I have the top fan @low as intake; the rear @medium as exhaust; and on the HR-01 I have a 120mm @medium as pushing.

Well I had the typhoon on my previous PD805@3.6 but the temp never over 35C. I replaced the cpu with the 945; the temp was >40C on idle. I have reseated a few times and it yielded the same results. So it could not be what I did wrong (not that I know of). I gave up because it was pain to try to remove everything just to re-seat the typhoon. When I got HR-01; I didn't think there was much a difference or probably worst. So it came as a surprise.

Typhoon was warm to the touch while HR-01 was cold to the touch (with my fingers).
