Thermalright HR-01

I saw taht too... it looks very promising. I might have to change my future HS from the Ninja to that if i want a truly silent case!

I read the whole review.

spcr notes that it might be wise to secure it near the top with atleast a zip-tie to the PSU.

It's a little lighter but taller than the Ninja. MMmm.

I dunno, I don't really like the looks of it after that review.... It doesn't even come with any fan clips, and it doesn't seem to be able to run passive very effectively, unless you put it in something like a P180 that's built for that sort of tower heatsink. The way it was bending off the motherboard also looked downright dangerous. I'm glad I got an SI-120 and I can't wait until after christmas so I can install it and all my other upgrades I got!

Looks good but it's still a beast...and the Ninja still cools better than it does. I'm sure it performs very well though, after all it's a Thermalright.

Realize their tested is free air with no air flow at all, no heatsink is going to work in that environment. Besides if you're not aiming for passive you would be better off getting the SI-120 anyway, so I don't think the lack of fan clips is a weakness.

The single orientation limitation could be a problem in some cases, but either way its a great heatsink, good job thermalright

1. It would be good to see a comparison in a real case.

2. It is very clear that this design is the way they will need to do it for the future. They need to get it right. They are within a hair of the Ninja, but not quite there.

3. IMO, it's time to wait for their next release. For primarily fan-based coolers, they've got great choices, some (XP-120 and especially the SI-120) even working well passively, and generally have a fool-proof design. This one looks close to the mark, but not quite there.
