How much better is the slk800 than the sk7? They seem very similar to me.
I've used these for building several computers in fact they are all I use lately (either the 800 or the 7)
In my experience with the two the 800 is a little better than the SK-7 but if you're using a low CFM fan you will get roughly the same performance out of the two so the $10 difference isn't really justified if you go that route.. if you're going to use a tornado do yourself a favor and get the 800..
Either of the two have certain oddities in their install that could cause problems for those who don't double check their install:
The 800 it won't sit as easily on the CPU because it's actually more narrow than the CPU itself (which was scary at first but not so bad as it comes with new pads you can stick on in the place of the ones already on AMD CPU's that become useless with the 800) install it carefully and with the motherboard (or tray if you have that option) out of the case itself to make it easier to see what your doing..
The Sk-7 has it's own problem with being a little too big on the CPU socket (it's very close between it and the socket hump when seated) so just make sure when you install it to keep the clip as close to the back of the heatsink as you can when attaching the back of the clip or it will attach to the socket at an angle (NOT GOOD) and you might fry your processor if you power it up without reseating the heatsink properly first..
