Does anybody know anything about the "new" Thermalright SP-97? It looks like the SLK 900A but with 3 heatpipes. Does this cool much better than the already great SLK 900A? and is it worth the $54 on sidewindercomputers.com?

See here.

If you already have something like a slk800/900 then there really is no reason to get this. Unless you happen to be one of those who always want the best. And there are some like that. :D

Plus, socket a is being phased out and we'll be moving to athlon64, which requires new heatsinks/mobo's.

Then there's BTX...

There's a comparison review of the SP-97 and SLK900 as well as other Thermalright heatsinks over at SilentPCReview.com. That test shows the SP-97 cooling a few degrees better than the SLK900. Whether that amount of cooling is worth $50 more is your call.
