Thermalright heatsink kind of touching capacitor...

A friend of mine installed an SK-6+ on his Gigabyte GA7N-400 - for those of you who know, these heatsinks use aluminum wires to hold the fan down. One of these wires (not the physical base of the heatsink) is touching a capacitor. Is this ok?

Thx in advance...

The capacitor will have a plastic covering - but if there is vibration e.g. from transporting the PC, or from vibration of the fan - then the plastic could be eroded by the pressure of the wire and the capacitor could be damaged.

It's very unlikely that there would be a problem, but theoetically it is possible. Unless the pressure on the capacitor is such that it is bending, then I probably wouldn't do anything about it. I used to use a Celeron held into a slot motherboard with bits of paper, so I'm used unorthodox solutions.

Ya, I used to be worried about my heatsink touching a capacitor... then I found out that there are different stress levels that a capacitor can handle... basically I learned that as long as its not majorly bent to the side, you're gunna be just fine.
