I took the stock fan off of my volcano 7 to replace it with a quiet Panaflo L1A.

Load temps were around 52-53 degress Celcius

I replaced it with the AX-7 (same fan) and load temps are at 48-49.

I want a quiet system though. I have an XP1800 oc'd to a 1900.

Well according to this, the AX-7 does have slightly better thermal properties than the V7+. Check out those links at the sticky thread in this section; some of them have good reviews.

i have the ax-7 and my temps on the system in my sig are around the high forties at load. case temps are in the mid thirties.

the great thing about it is that you can use any ol' 80mm fan on the thing so it can be a lot quieter than the volcano7. the difference between this fan and the 60mm fan that was on my taisol hs is quite noticeable.

cheers.

So far so good, but what about Volcanos speed setting?? Wont that have an advantage??

Both are very good options, and both can take advantage of any 80mm fan. The Volcano 7+ comes with fan speed control that can be good considering a low 50s results with a 2000+ CPU in the low speed setting. The high speed one means probably a constant headache.

You should also consider that a "fan speed control" could be easily "made at home" by connecting a variable resistor ($1) to the 12V line that goes to your fan.

Notice that the AX7 might end up being more expensive cause you have to buy a separate fan.

Yeah, but im not that advanced in wiring fans.

theres a $5 difference between the 2 at SVCs pluss a 80mm fan is only $3 so its actually cheaper for me

I have the AX7 with a adjustable speed fan. My CPU temp is only 9 degrees C higher than the case at about 2400 RPM. From what I have seen on the V7+, the performance seem to decrease a lot when the RPM goes down. I think it has something to do with the thermal property of copper. I would recommend the AX7 overall since it will be cheaper (even after the fan) and 80mm fans are less annoying in pitch than 70mm fans. The perfromance difference is negligible, and from what I have seen, the AX7 does better in general. Also, check if you have enough room around your socket. AX7 is kind of big and doesn't go in every nicely on some mobos. The V7+ will fit in most mobos.
