I am currently using a thermalight sk-7 with a smart fan II to cool a duron 1.3. I am wondering what will be the fastest cpu I could use with this heatsink. Thermalright says athlon xp 2000+ and higher depending on the fan. Could this set up work effectively on a 2500+. Thanks for answering a noobs questions.

from one squirrel to another,

i have an sk7 on a 1700+ oc'ed to 3000+ speeds. matched it with a ys tech 80mm adjustable fan, so i can keep the rpms low when i'm not gaming or anything and turn it up when i do (and as summer approaches here in texas).

i really like the sk7 and plan to use it on a mobile 2600+ soon. my only gripes with it are-- wont take a bigger fan and the buildup of dust on the fins. i guess the dust problem exists on most HS, but i havent used many others to determine if this one is worse or the same.

I used an SK7 on my 2500+ @ 2.167. It did a great job, even with a 32cfm fan.

Ok, I just bought a 35Watt 2400+ Mobile :) I currently am running a SK-7, and still have arctic silver 2 thermal grease.

Anyone have experience using the Sk-7 with their mobile processor, and what oc were you able to get out of it ?

Also, what is the best thermal paste/grease/whatever out there right now that can be picked up for under $6 ? I still have the tube of ASII, but I bought this stuff sometime in 2001 :-/ so it might be time for some new stuff.

All comments appreciated :)

it doesn't take much to cool a barton, i use an old Volcano 7(rated for Athlon 2100+ max) on a barton at 2.1ghz and it hits 44C max. with a decent fan you could probably do 2.4ghz with that SK-7 depending on the voltage.
