I love to be able to get instant info on demand, so I installed Thermaltake hardcano-2 thermometers in my case. Each has 2 thermal probes and a digital thermometer read out.
Processor placement was easy. I followed the instructions at Thermaltake and used the sticky tape to mount the probe on the bottom of my chip and ran the wires out the corner.
Memory placement was also easy. Sandwiched the probe between the heatspreader and the chip.
Hard-Drive/System temp was another easy solution to simply use the sticky tape on top of the drive.
My question comes with mounting location on my 6800 graphics card. The thermal take site shows the thermal probe mounted with sticky tape on the opposite side of the graphics chip. My 6800 has a bunch of little chips there, so the probe does not lay flat against the card. My load temps are 34C as shown on the hardcano-2 which seems a tad low considering how hard I am pushing this 6800.
Would I get more accurate readings if I mounted it on the bottom side of my NV-5 silencer? I would have to be careful not to get the probe or mounting tape in the way of the processor or memory.
What other programs might I use to find out graphics processor temperature?
