I have a couple questions...

First, I have a NZXT Hades case that comes with 3 thermal probes. I removed the plastic protector tube that the probes came enclosed in, but what is this yellow film over the metal probe?

Do I need to remove this film?

Thanks mfenn. The yellow film isn't sticky. Do I secure it by simply taping it down over the yellow film?

And what's the best way to measure the cpu temp? I've read different ways to install the probe to the cpu from placing it on the cpu in between the heat sink (doesn't sound like a good idea), placing it next to the cpu under the heat sink, to placing on top of the heat sink directly over the cpu.

Thanks!

Yeah, you can either use some tape or just wedge it in there.

I would definitely NOT recommend putting anything (other than TIM of course) between the CPU and heatsink. Wedging it into the fins of your HSF near the base is probably a safe bet.
