Hi I just got my new Hyper 212 Plus. I am going to be putting it on an LGA 1155 motherboard with my i5 2500k. I have never applied thermal paste before and I was wondering if I should put it on the Hyper 212 plus or on the CPU. Also how should I put it on? I read online that there are many different ways of doing it, but I am wondering what is the best way to do it? Thanks!

okay ill do that. do i have to put pressure on the heatsink myself or just let the pressure by screwing it down do the work? i dont want to break my processor by putting too much presure

Yup, just let heatsink do the work. No need to pressure it with your hands but hold the heatsink steady and flat on the CPU until you have screwed all corners

Also, what I do is seat the heatsink once by hand without tightening, then remove it and check the contact patch. This will tell you if you had overspill or need to add more. Good luck.

Oh I would like to add when you're screwing the heatsink on make you don't tighten them all at once just enough where the screw stops then after tighten the screws little bit more

You can also use a credit card or your finger wrapped in saran wrap to cover a very thin layer on top of the CPU. I personally put a dot in the middle and draw a square a bit farther out. Tighten screws diagonally. I thought the hardest part of installing the 212+ was putting the backplate on; after that it's easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I just make 2 thin lines and a small dot in the middle. I don't even wiggle the heatsink.

Im using my Coolermaster Hyper 212+ and realtemp is reading 25c average idle and 50c load average at stock speeds with a 2500k. Can't complain.
