Question Thermal paste longevity vs. modern CPUs

CPUs of the long past oscillated between let's say 35C and 65C and did so gradually.

Modern CPUs oscillate between 35C and 100C and do so an instant.

Has anyone researched what happens to the thermal paste under these conditions? Does it degrade/evaporate/lose its thermal conductivity faster?

Pump out is the worst problem due to continuous temperature cycling (thermal expansion and contraction). A good overview can be found in a thread by @Idontcare https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...d-3770k-an-h100-and-9-different-tims.2285595/

There are better pastes out nowadays, but I'm not aware of any thorough studies. The rapid changes usually occur with lower thread thread counts with high ST loads. So I believe that it isn't as bad as it seems.

I haven't had any problems with NHT-1 or Prolimatech PK-1. Bought allot so still using both. I only re-paste every 2-3 years. And sometimes that's just because I built a new system.
