I am Building my set up. I have the heatsink from intel for now. I bought my own thermal paste. Should i remove the one that came with the heat sink and apply my own. The one on the heatsink is small doesnt cover every where on the cpu.

are you going to overclock? if so the buy a better heatsink and re-apply the paste then. If not the just keep it how you have it.

I realize it's too late now (just couldn't wait, could ya? :biggrin🙂, but the one that was on the heatsink, though small, does "melt" and end up covering most (probably all) of the CPU.

When applying paste, to a large extent, less is better. Too much paste is counter productive. You only want enough to fill in the grooves on the CPU and the heatsink, not a thick slather.
