Thermal pad sufficient for overclocking Duron 800?

I recently acquired an 800MHz Duron, which I hope to overclock to the 1GHz range with an Abit KT7 MB and a Taisol CGK742092 cooler. There seems to be thermal tape on the bottom of the cooler. What I'd like to find out is if the tape on the cooler is sufficient for the overclock to 1GHz or if I should purchase some thermal compound to use as an interface?

Definitely take it off and put some thermal paste on it. Even though I used a "poor" paste, it still lowered the cpu 2-3 C.
