Thermal pad question

I was installing the heatsink on my retail XP 1800+, and when I first tried to press down the clip, I found that I needed to move the heatsink a bit so the first clip would be latched securely. When I removed the heatsink, a bit of the thermal pad material had already gotten on the CPU. I got the heatsink on ok the second try. I haven't powered up yet - am I OK, or do I need to remove this thermal pad material and start over?

ProtoCube, w/o a PIC of how much of the thermal pad is on the core vs. the HS, I would say to be on the safe side, start over. I say this because I know the thermal pad is supposed to melt and "fill" in, but w/o a PIC, I don't want you to ruin your XP 1800+.

I don't have a pic, but there was only a tiny amount near the edge of the cpu - there was still plenty on the heatsink.
