Hello,
I recently purchased an Arctic Cooling Freezer HSF for my LGA 775 'Press-hott' CPU (RIG below). Directron sent it with many noticeable surface markings (from the manufacturer?), however, the HSF performed beyond well.
I did notice surprising results with the MX-1 thermal paste. You will find it extremely difficult to try and spread the gum/cement-like paste onto the back of the CPU, but luckily I experienced a technique on applying the thinnest layer possible. You should be able to squeeze two applications out of the tube, if not, one.
I was able to obtain CPU idle temperatures @ 35-39C, and 54C Load temps @ the most. (BTW, my Lian LI w/ the window case CLOSE, air cooled with its two front 80mm fan, one 80mm exhaust fan in the back, and a PCI exhaust). I'd say give it a try and let us know of your results.^^
