theres tons of smoke billowing out of my oven!

so i want a pizza and i fire up the oven in my new apartment for the first time. a little beeping noise goes off and i'm like, cool, the oven alerts when its preheated! so i walk out to the kitchen area and theres smoke coming out of the oven! i open it up and lots of it comes out. i'm not sure exactly what its all about, the thing hasn't been used by me and is spotless inside (self cleaning too!). seems to be coming off the light... could they have sprayed it with some cleaning stuff and this be residue burning off? i don't think i want to eat a pizza cooked in all that.
