There's something more lottery winners need to understand

That is: If you're poor ass broke now, you probably always will be. Once you run that money out it's back to living hand to mouth because it's just how you are.

Case in point, today's outrage article. Woman wins $1M but is still on public assistance at $200/month. This is legal. And some may say "hell, why not she's allowed to", which is one thing, but another is that she actually thinks she needs it:

Asked if she had the right to the public assistance money, Clayton answered, "I kind of do. I have no income, and I have bills to pay. I have two houses."

This woman's current life skill set is such that she'll eventually go back to the same spot she was in before because she cannot manage the money.
