I live in the suburbs (Rockland County) so I kinda have the best/worst of both worlds between the city and rural areas. Upstate NY is like a whole another state, especially considering how long it takes to get to places like Albany and Niagra.

I grew up in upstate NY. Lived there for 22 years. Beautiful country, loved the autumn but you can keep most of the rest of the year.

Edit-I love Lake George. Adirondacks are gorgeous.

I was born and partially raised in upstate NY (up until 9th grade) and absolutely loved it. I lived in a around Hinckly Lake if anyone knows where that's at.

I grew up on Chazy Lake in upstate NY (waaaay upstate). Lived there until halfway through 8th grade when my Mom moved us to Albany.

I drove through there on my way to NYC coming from MI once. Beautiful country, just laid back and probably where I want to move to someday. I love the rural, quiet, country more than I do the hustle bustle of the city.

I live in NYC so update NY is super boring to me. I'd rather live in Long Island where there's still some stuff to do out there.

I grew up there (Palmyra/Macedon NY, East of Rochester). It's nice and all, but after spending time in Minneapolis and SoCal, upstate NY feels a little empty.

I'm from and still live in VT, but I really like all of new england. NH, ME and update NY are all nice. It feels like upstate NY gets shafted because its coupled to NYC which is a state in and of itself. The real estate isn't insane in all parts of at least though.

I like rural areas because you have room to do your own shit without tripping over a bunch of assholes!

Until you see the taxes.

I went to school at Cornell, beautiful country, but still tied to NYC. I'd rather live in Michigan (and I do!)
