I don't think South Caroline has a waiting period. If your background check goes through with no problems, then you will be able to walk out with a gun. You could also go to a gun store and not have to wait.

You still have to go through the background check at the gun store.

In Virginia, the process takes about 10-30 minutes. They take down some information, call the state police, get the OK, and you're done. California has the "cooling off" 10 day waiting period, ostensibly to keep you from buying a gun in a fit of rage and offing your roommate who is always drinking your last beer and "borrowing" your shit, only to find it weeks later on a windowsill behind a curtain. What the f7ck!?!?

Anyway, check your state laws. And oh yeah, don't be a former felon, domestic abuser, or mental case.

Yup, that tends to be the process in most states (except crazy states like NY, NJ, CA).

The ones around here do a background check just like every other gun shop...they call it in.

Beware...gun shows, from my experience, do not have the best prices. So just keep that in mind. Have fun.

Can you haggle at a gun show?

The prices of the guns themselves are not necessarily great, but they are awesome sources of obscure accessories.

You betcha. It's incredibly easy, all you have to do is point out that another table has the same gun for $X and can they do better than that. Easier than pricematching between Staples and Office Depot.

Awesome, didn't know about the haggling. The last gun I bought was a Remington 1100, it was used though, just wanted something for skeet shooting, got it from a pawn shop and haggled a bit, didn't know I could do the same at a gun show.
