Couldn't for the life of me figure out why I was suddenly having trouble with my 7900GT.

Its been running great for a couple months with no heat issues or stability issues. Then yesterday Oblivion started crashing. Even at default settings.

Uh oh.

FEAR. crash

Looping 3dMark06 - less than an hour - CRASH.

Uh oh. Perhaps I one of the million tweeks I've done recently screwed things up.

Skip to the punch line. After reinstalling everything I decieded to remove my volt mods, just in case. I open up the case and as I'm removing the card I realize something. Like when you get the punch line of a joke half an hour later. The Ram sink I put on a few ICs associated with memory on the back the card fell off.

******, I shoulda seen that right away. Ok pop it on no problem right?

well I can't find the RAM sink. How far could it go? I pick up the computer and shake. Nothing loose.

I get the flashlight and go hunting. Oh crap.

After some histerics I look at the computer again. Sure enough there it is plain as day.

It wasn't there before. I have either ghosts or gremlins or something.

Or I need sleep.

Anyway this time I took off the thermal tape and I'm going to AS5 and use a dot of super glue!

So the moral of my story is ME = MORON. Hope someone gets a laugh out of this🙂

Hey Soviet, I got time. PM me the story if you want.....

anyways, glad you sorted it eventually, hoping my 7900GT wont be one of the busted ones.
