There's a viral haemorrhagic fever in my country

Even though I am a medical professional I am scared sh*tless. It was initially transmitted by Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes so here's hoping its just a virulent dengue fever and not proper ebola.

That sucks. I was upset about having a sore throat yesterday. Probably my mother's stupid ionizer. Life's pretty good all things considered. Glad I don't have to worry about bleeding out cause of a stupid insect. I just get a bit itchy. Oh, and Lyme disease, but we'll ignore that for now. Still better than bleeding out.

If you don't mind me asking, how is the room humidity? Could be the reason for unexplained itchniess (lack of skin moisture) and a susceptibility to pharyngitis

I just meant a mosquito bite. For the most, in North America you aren't gonna get much more than itchiness from a mosquito, though there's been some cases of zika, and maybe a handful of cases of something rarer, but I don't hear about it around here.

To answer your question, it's probably about 90% humidity right now. I have the doors open, and it's a rainy day. It's always on the humid side on the Atlantic coast.

Woops, reading comprehension and I guess the humidity isn't a factor.

Although the US has an interesting incidence of mosquito-borne west nile.

Well, that sure as hell sucks. What country?
Sudan, or as I refer to it, 'God's beta sandbox for hell'

I hope wherever you are you have access to Mosquito nets, screens, and Deet.
The laughable part is that the state government and parliament both refuse to acknowledge the burgeoning epidemic, to save face. Media's suppressed so none of the few independent papers can publish any local accounts.

Thats gov 101 for thinks like this. Here in the states we also did not go too deeply into Zika. I live in South Florida, and, I know someone that works for the CDC.

So, there's no way for you to leak out official data or reports through, say, a random online message board that can then be passed on to international agencies for investigation? Just saying

If he does that, he should be VERY careful. Too easy to find out who you are by your IP .... too easy to track cell phones. Most internet cafes are out of business, though maybe they are still around in Sudan, they might be censored? It's not easy to leak information without exposing yourself to lots of liabillity....

American protocols, practise, and general guidelines within any medical field are considered the gold standard, there's a large disconnect with the governmental aspect though. I still remember the case of the Illinois mayor who misappropriated funds through special district mosquito nets only to contract West-Nile Encephalitis later through bites, surreal and especially in a first world nation

People have set up twitter hashtag campaigns, contacted foreign doctors and even an online petition. Goal is to get the WHO on it but they and other humanitarian organizations haven't had the greatest relationship with the establishment. The politicians here are retarded and think they're missionaries out to fight Islam, or embarrass them with factual accounts of corruption

The have an electronic jihad division but they're dumb as bricks, the extent of their tracking is trying to use netstat through facebook chat to obtain your IP or misleading you into somehow revealing your personal information

I am a citizen, live here but as you can gather I didn't grow up here. I use 3.75G Cellular placed in a router, primarily because ADSL is ancient in my area (ADSL2 goes up to 16Mbit/s) and fibre is an extortion scheme reserved for the inhumanly rich or corporations, although it extends to 150Mbp/s only

Its relatively cheap but mainly because of disastrous inflation. 4G/LTE-A is fast but with not a single unlimited package so only postpaid and filthy rich people use it

This might crack you up - a kid bought satellite internet equipment for a provider in the UAE but with north african coverage. A manager at the reigning telecommunications corporation Sudatel tried to have it blocked on entry through customs

Australia?

(north queensland comes up in the news)
They have their own special natural dangers

It was strange. We had schools telling children they could not bring bug spray to school because some kids could be allergic, but, you could spray your kid down before school. So covering your kid with DEET is fine, but spraying it at school was not.

Turns out, a big reason was that they were afraid of people getting carried away with fear, so they started saying things were confined and under control, so bringing bug spray was not really needed. The classrooms were cool and so Zika mosquitoes were not a threat, as if they did not go outside of those rooms.

there are like thirty of them and they seem to be reemerging every now and then. Yellow fever, Lassa, Dengue, Ebola, Rift Valley, Crimean-Congo and others. There is no cure so you're basically restricted to supportive treatment, the occasional antiviral trial that doesn't work and hoping that your immune constitution or particular infecting variant are good
