There's a special place in Hell for people like this

Dari

Lifer
Last night Sarah Palin proclaimed that
To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.

But before she had her child (with Down's Syndrome), she never cared for these families. In fact, she cut the budget for Special Needs kids last year (her first full year in office). It's terrible that, not only is she pimping her mentally retarded infant for sympathy and support, but she never gave a damn about anyone who might be in a similar situation. I don't know the specifics about the Alaskan budget, but considering the fact that oil prices have skyrocketed the past couple of years, they can't be in too bad of a shape.

This reminds me of the Republican who went on television and said he could no longer support the anti-gay Republican policies because he just found out his daughter was a lesbian. The point is, why don't you put yourself in other people's shoes before G-d forces your hand? And why exploit your child like that knowing your own history on the subject?

Hindsight is always 20/20. Politicians will say and do anything to get elected, it's what they do after they are elected that shows their true color, and that color is usually yellow...

It is pretty disgraceful. Along the same lines of her cutting the budget for Teen Mother homes and now seeing how it could pop up in any family.

No one's gonna care. As long as god told her to do it everything will just be peachy! 🙂

Ok nakedfrog, you say there is a small error in the post by I assume Red Dawn. What pray tell was that error or do you expect people to believe you because you say there is an error?

What is your specific point and the reasons for so thinking, or is that too much to ask?

If it makes her do more for special needs, I don't care.
Special needs children need all the support they can get.
If this makes people talk more about it then something good might come out of it, even if it has nothing to do with who gets elected.

Do you just lap up every rumor published on DailyKos without vetting it yourself?

They've been known of late to publish just about anything...

Go to the State of Alaska website, and you'll find all the information you need to debunk this.

http://rightwingliberal.wordpr...tch-daily-kos-and-cnn/

I started with the FY07 budget for Special Schools (that was Murkowski?s last budget year). Indeed, Special Schools received $8,265,300. Now, one thing to keep in mind: this budget included the Alaska Challenge Youth Academy, which NR@DK referenced earlier.

http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb...udget/EED/comp2735.pdf

Next up is the FY08 operating budget, and indeed, it only shows $3,156,000. Here?s the part DK and O?B forgot to mention: the Alaska Challenge Youth Academy is a separate line item in the operating budget - to the tune of $5,709,000. The funds total $8,865,000, an 7.26% increase, not a 62% cut.

http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb...Enacted/HB_95_bill.pdf

he FY09 Operating Budget has the same separation. Add them together again, and you have $9,214,900, 3.95% more than FY08 and 11.49% more than FY07. Again, not a 62% cut.

http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb.../HB310_with_vetoes.pdf

This is something the NR@DK could have easily checked just by looking at the Alaska State Budget website and making a few clicks. Ms. O?Brien could have also checked this out in less than an hour if she had bothered to actually work at her craft rather than ball up bad numbers from Daily Kos and fling them with glee on unsuspecting campaign officials.

And I'd like to add that, yes, there is a special place in hell for those who misrepresent budget data to make it look like their opponent (who has a specials needs child) doesn't care about special needs children--all just to score political points.

I think the monies never really went down fpr special ed.

Only the line item on the budget report went from one combined allocation item to two items.

I think monies for special education in Alaska actually went up.

Im trying to find a link. EDIT: QED said it better than I ^^^

Funny thing is. Here we are talking about a social program for the disabled and its the Republicans that are happy that Palin is spending money, while its the Dems that are looking for a cut in program funding

LOL!!

I told you McCain and Palin would be good for the GOP !!!

So there?s a special place in hell for people who don?t subscribe to growing government? As if we didn't already know you'd gladly send your opponents there.

Yes there is. It is right next to where they put child molesters and people who talk at the theatre.

😛

Anyways, it sounds to me like she takes the attitude of "if it doesn't affect me..." and doles out sympathy accordingly. It sounded good in a speech, so she had it put in. Many politicians take the same view on poverty. No sympathy until it hits them or their friends/family members hard.

but but but... you have to realize that if the asked for increase was cut to half the increase asked for... it's still a "cut" in the world of liberals...

At least some others cite budget figures, as for you, all I did was ask.

I think Lemon started hitting the sauce a little early today. Earlier he couldn't detect the sarcasm dripping from the letter in which a member of the mainstream media apologizes for investigating Palin's qualifications.

IT'S A TRAP

To be honest before I met my autistic Stepson I was rather clueless about the condition and though I wasn't unsympathetic the whole situation regarding them and their care wasn't high on my list of priorities like it is now

Wow dude...

Red Dawn posted "Sounds like your typical self serving Republican Politician." Nakedfrog responded by removing the word Republican, indicating that all politicians are self-serving, not just Republicans. What in God's name are you on about with budget figures?

Are you sure about that whole voting thing?

I think the worst part as a parent is the thought that they'll outlive you and you need to find a caretaker that gives a shit about them for after you die.

so wait, let me get this straight... Palin became aware of a serious issue after she, for the very first time in her own life, gained first-hand experience with the problem; and this is somehow worthy of a "special place in hell"?!

wtf?!

What might be worthy of that place in hell would be coming face-to-face with such an issue, and then NOT becoming involved in a solution.

Life-changing experiences are just that... life-changing.

you're a fucking loon.
