There's a smoke alarm going off in my building

First off, there's no smoke or fire, and I've walked up and down the hallway to see if any of the doors are hot. They're not. I knocked on the people's door whose alarm is going off, and they're not home and the door is locked.

This sucks...I can hear it through my floor!

Just because the door's not hot doesn't mean there's not a fire. Something set the alarm off, could be a smoldering fire. Might turn out to be nothing, but if there's an alarm going off at least call the property manager to have him check it out if you won't call the fire department.
 
Went down again...the lady is home this time, and she said there's something wrong with the detector. Someone from the management company is on his way over. 😀
 
Forgot to mention: the lady has a moustache 🙂Q) and she has multiple tropical birds 🙂Q).

So much for getting to know your neighbors. 😀
