There's a Sam's Club opening extremely nearby along with a superWalMart right next to it.

Just curious, as I got an email through work saying we can get the membership for $30 instead of $35 and was thinking of signing up.

BTW, there is no Costco within hundreds of miles from where I am.

buying things in bulk is always a plus, and sometimes they have things at a discount from what they are at wal-mart.

i believe they are both owned by the same parent company, so i'm sure the closeness of the buisnesses actually benefits them.
we have the same set up here, a Walmart supercenter right beside a Sams.

Sam's is owned by Wal-Mart.

Two big chickens for $5.88. 5# bags of named brand frozen veg for $3.00. a dozen rolls $2.50. a dozen bonless/skinless chicken breasts for $11.00. Sandwhich meat for less than 1/2 supermarket. Ziploc baggies, toilet paper, anitbacterial soap, all approx 1/2 price supermarket.

Some things are actually cheaper at Wal-Mart. Like laundry detergent, cat food and a few other things. But Sam's quality kicks azz. We saved double the annual fee on our first shopping trip a few years ago.

:)

I'm going to Sam's today - I love wandering the aisles and buying random stuff.

I think the most I've saved on one purchase was $150 on tires for my Z.

Stuff I saved a bunch on:

Kitchenaid stand mixer
Food saver
Stainless steel grill
Air compressor
Generator

Other stuff I save on:

meat
Canned food
Trash bags
Dog food
Contacts/ glasses for the wife
condoms
Lotion
Soap
TP
Ink cartridges
Razors
etc.

it really depends on hwo you do your grocery shoppings. as a single student a few years back, i couldn't justify the annual fee, i just go to local grocery stores. but as a family now, it's definitely worth it.

oh, and sometimes they also have discounted price on hard drive, memory card, or any other technology items that's a pretty good deal.

Well, I'm living by myself right now, with my fiance (soon to be wife) moving in in just under two months. I might make a trip to the grocery every 1.5 weeks averaging about $50.

here's a word of wisdom. if there's a woman living with you, you are going to shop not twice, but three times as much, maybe more :)

so i think it's gonna be worth it.
