Here's the deal: I have a Viewsonic 17" E70f (CRT) on the left of me and a Dell 2007FPW (LCD) in front of me hooked up to a single ATI x1800xt. The Viewsonic connects through a DVI/VGA adapter. A few hours ago I leaned back to watch the two displays mysteriously switch on me. The desktop of one was on the other, resolution and all (I wasn't even aware the Viewsonic could do 1680x1050!). The only fix I can find is to go to the catalyst control panel and swap the displays. Except it's only a temporary fix, and the displays still randomly switch. I've found that turning the Dell off and on again can cause the switch, but it doesn't explain why it happens spontaneously, nor does it explain why it just started doing it today. I haven't installed any special software recently that might cause it. What on earth is going on here?
