dude, you have to do a controlled preburn


get in between the fire and your house, pour gas and create a moat. light the gas on fire. now wait until it burns a bit then put it out.

the fire will be unable to jump the gap to reach your house.

I was just getting ready to post something similiar to this..

I mean.. damn.. if there truely was a fire 50 feet from your house, and you have to ask... then you are a fvcking idiot
 
Depends on how good your insurance is. If you have good insurance just take the sentimental stuff and pray for a total loss.
