Some say you can and this will outrun the gx2.
AS WELL as cost $20 less..

and their memory speed is faster ?
ddr3 is not faster than ddr4.

I have an 1800GT in one case and an 8800Gt in the other..NO my loyalties lie in my pocket book. And I don't like reading stuff that might be true if you look at it one way.

Not exactly sure what you are talking about... yes, you can Crossfire a 3870 X2 with a 3870. That setup would be a bit faster than 3 X 3870 because the X2 has a faster core speed.

3X 3870 or 3870 X2 + 3870 won't outrun the GX2, but it will come pretty close for around the same money.... 3X 3870 can be had for around $500. Personally I would take the 9800GX2 over a 3-way crossfire setup. Performance in games like Crysis is better on the GX2.

Yes, you can, but it is generally not faster than a GX2.

I don't think I have ever heard anyone make the claim that DDR3 was faster than DDR4. The HD 3870 X2 has 1GB DDR3 memory btw, while the HD 3870 has 512MB DDR4 RAM.
