If I had been drinking milk, it'd be all over my keyboard. "sorry, I made a ham sandwich with your best friend" !? Awesome!

And yes, there should be one that expresses sorrow for a situation, one that expresses remorse for an action.

Guess what! I have found just some of these phrases you are looking for!!!

"I regret what I did."

"I apologize."

"I am truly remorseful."

"I was wrong."

These are all different from saying, "I feel bad about your unfortunate situation."

OS, did something happen to you to make you want to say this? Did your girlfriend cheat on you or something and when you confronted your best friend about it all he had to say was "sorry"?

'Square, I know there's a story behind this.

More importantly, PICS!😛

No story this time, maybe I'll just keep my random thoughts to myself next time. 😕

omg, did someone kill and eat your pig?

I'd have to say I agree. I think the word sorry is overused, and something else to go along with it for more meaningful situations would be good, just doesn't seem like there are other words with similar meanings.
