Naftali Bennet does a good job explaining why.

The big thing is that a truly independent sovereign Palestinian state would be flooded with refugees, who would then create pressure for a reconquest of Israel. Control of their borders would mean weapons would be imported and used to attack Israel. It is simply never going to happen for this simple geopolitical and strategic reason.

Caroline Glick has surmised that Israel could annex all of the West Bank and still have a 2/3rds Jewish majority. Naftali Bennett says annex area C which contains most of the settlements and a few Palestinians.

They say that Abbas spends most of his time in Jordan now anyways.

That entire parallel will be uninhabitable by 2100 anyway, and that's if we're lucky and we don't nuke each other out of existence long before then. Israel will continue to exist and will continue to violate human rights on a mass scale. They are already isolating themselves, much as apartheid south africa isolated itself and perpetually complained about unfair treatment. Perhaps, with US help, this policy can be maintained until the land becomes undesirable due to climate change and the Israelis immigrate back to the US or Europe.

As the US loses its right to claim the mantle of "protector of human rights" and as world superpower, it also will lose much of its ability to shield Israel from the disdain of the rest of the world. I think as Israel continues to isolate and rely more and more on the US, you may see even greater coordination and manipulation between the US and Israeli governments while at the same time you will see a larger and larger global political movement to marginalize Isreal and subject it to sanctions to force it to give all its citizens the right to exist and vote and own property that won't be bulldozed for the Goldman family from Queens.

Meh, I think the USA will gradually abandon Israel. Israel would probably end up with a new patron in time. Perhaps Russia, even China is a possibility. Islamic terrorism has really plummeted the reputation of the Islamic world and the validity of Islamic causes like Palestine. South Africa is a flawed comparison because the Palestinians simply are not as sympathetic as black Africans, and because Mandela appealed along Christian lines and not Islamic lines.

It is kind of insane how overcrowded that region is right now. There probably was a reason why ancient Biblical Israel went from the sea to the Jordan river...having to do with geopolitical strategic security.
