No the chick who wrote the books is Mormon. I read some background on the books and these aren't even vampires. They are just higher beings. This stuff is a load of crap. Mormon propaganda to feed the church money. Good job to all you people for supporting Mormons.

BSG had a lot more Mormon elements than the Twilight Saga.

She was a Mormon when she was a kid and stopped going to church a long time ago.

So she stopped practicing yet graduated from BYU and still living by the Mormon laws about no alcohol or smoke? She's still a practicing Mormon.

So are the Mormons working with the Rand Corporation and the Saucer People to take over the world or is that strictly a Catholic thing?

er, or maybe she is smart enough to know alcohol and smoking are bad for you? Now if you told me she didn't drink coffee or tea you might be on to something.

No self respecting adult would refrain from drinking and smoking. Everyone knows this.

Found this quote on Wikipedia, thought it was interesting:

"the real difference [between J.K. Rowling and Meyer] is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer, and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good."

I'd have to agree. Twilight was an entertaining read, but it wasn't very well written, and peaked with the second book.

I just don't see the appeal this has on teens and being crazy about this. Same thing with Vampire Diaries, an obvious knockoff.
Vampire Diaries was published like 15 years before Twilight :(

I kinda dig the Vampire Diaries show in a cheesy, campy sorta way (also because ian somerhalder is a sexy beast)

This Twilight literature sounds so awful that I admit, I want to read it. Maybe it holds the same attraction as ogrish (RIP), it's terrible and yet you can't look away.

And I can't figure out if that Bella chick is hot or not. In most of the pictures that I've seen of her, she looks like she just woke up from a nap.

That's what you think, but you don't. Like I said earlier, the entire thing is an exercise in how many adjectives for "perfection" the author can squeeze into every sentence. It's like a trashy romance novel/fanfiction without the sex (until, apparently, the fourth book).

Only reason to read it would be to sound more knowledgeable/have more credibility when you inevitably end up bashing/debating its terrible-ness with the opposite sex.
