There is something in my wall

So tonight we are eating dinner and all of the sudden my cats come running into the living room and both sit and stare at the wall. I walk over thinking there is a bug or something and do not see anything. A few min later I hear a loud scratching, it is coming from within the wall. Its been going off and on over the last 2 hours now. The apartments I live in are less then 2 years old. I went down in the basement and discoverd there is no way anything could have came in through it. No gaps or holes or anything. I have no idea what it is or how it got it. It is scratching much to loud to be a mouse. Maybe a squirrle or my excellent compatriot?

I called the land lord who happens to live just a block down from me and he said he would have exterminators here in the morning.

There will not be much sleeping at my house tonight.

Is it an exterior wall? Maybe it got in via the attic, can you check that? I certainly wouldn't want it to die in the wall!

There is a crawl space in the garage that would get me up there. That is the next place I am going to check.

The wall runs from the front of the house, its the inside garage wall, then through the house to the living room. If that makes any sense

Just wondering if you can physically peek down between the studs? The top plate(s) should be solid, but on an interior wall they may have been opened by an HVAC butcher or plumber.

Had an opossum in my walls almost 2 years ago. Got in under the house and scratched like hell to get past the bathtub. He came back everyday, but I was able to run him off for good.

OMG!

We have terrible memories of having a rodent infestation at our previous house. We were living in a fully furnished basement. You could hear the mice pidder padder their feet between the main and basement floor boards, they got into some M&M's and would roll them around, they'd squeak and make all sorts of noises. After about 14 mousetraps and 2 gluetraps they suddenly disappeared. Then we moved out.

You have a mouse(s). Mouse trap + peanut butter and you'll have them in a day or two.

1. Get your .357 Magnum.
2. Fire randomly into the wall.
3. Stop and listen for scratching noise.
4. Repeat until scratching noise stops.
5. ??
6. Profit!!
