There is nothing like a new set of wipers.

Seriously folks, get out and change your wipers. It's been raining the last few days here in NYC and I said screw it and got some Bosch wipers for my car.

I swear the first swipe not only got rid of all the water on my windshield but it looked like it even cleared up a ton of dirt at the same time. I couldn't see anything at all before. Wiping was worse. :awe:

Ah man - whoever invented the wiper deserves an award.

EDIT: And while you're at it - check your tire PSI and top off the fluids also.

I got Bosch wipers last time.

I won't again. they only lasted ~50% longer at 4x the cost.

From now on I'm going cheap and replacing twice a year.

I'm still using the same factory wipers that was shipped with the car. 7 years and it still wipes like brand new. Garage your car and your wipers will last very long time. 🙂

i clean my wipers off with a rag every time i wash my car. when they really start to crap out i get the wiper inserts for my car because for some reason anything else creates weird streaks for whatever reason. i've gone with bosch, valeo, all have the same problems.

Any recommendations for a 09 Toyota Matrix? I've never actually purchased wipers and always let the mechanic install new ones.

Previous owner of my car apparently didn't change the wipers very often either, and because of this I have slight refraction of headlights and street lights at night. I wouldn't trust a set of wipers for 7 years regardless of how they're kept.

Looks a bit like this, though not as pronounced:

Yup, I finally changed mine after about 1.5 years. Huge difference to be able to see when it's raining and dark out.

Its similar to when you were young in school and you had a brand new, perfectly sharped pencil. Or, a little later, a brand new really awesome mechanical pencil. Shitty essay to right? No problem, I HAVE MY PENCIL!

The original wipers are still perfect. It still wipes as good as day 1.

Now my daily driver, I change it once a year with the Goodyear wiper blades from Costco. My truck sits outside 24/7.

I've had good luck with those cheap walmart wipers. I'd rather replace them more often then buy those expensive wipers.

Heck yeah, those Costco wipers are such a stupid good deal. Especially when they go on sale for around half off. Even if you changed them every 3 months you spend less than a cheap crappy set once a year from an auto store.

I liked it when my cars had the same size for both, I rotated one every 6 months to the passenger side and got a new one for the driver side. My new car has different sizes, so I'll just change them every 6, even then at ~$20 a year for good wipers it's crazy.

I also always wipe off my wiper blades, and those Costco ones have no issues going a year even in Seattle rain. Though you may eventually get a nick or two that's annoying.

I'd love to get a good set of wipers, but unfortunately, Chevy decided to use a stupid attachment arm and it's next to impossible to get anything besides Trico/Valeo or OEM.

I believe it's called "Insert & Lock (I&L)".

I literally go into the auto parts store and say "I need wipers for <my car>" and they respond with "you want the cheaper ones or the more expensive ones?". I've always gone with the cheap ones. They last all year and then I replace them.

I always go with OEM on my car. Tried aftermarket and it was so bad that it was unsafe at night. I think they did something different to keep them operational at over 190mph which just doesn't translate to the right tension with aftermarket.

If you really want to blow your mind, grab yourself a new windscreen.
Any car over 10 years old has millions of tiny scratches, pits etc which distort vision ever so subtly.
I replaced mine recently even tho it wasn't broken and...wow!:awe:
It's like you've just had your eyes lasered...everything looks crisp and clear.

Or just fix it cheap and easy with nano particle silica.
