There is definitely some issue with phantom posts - *resolved!*

I know this was already mentioned, but something is definitely wrong.

I have seen several threads in OT get bumped to the top by a "phantom post". The post count of the thread increases, the thread is bumped and the "Last Post By" is attributed to a member who didn't even post to the thread.

It happened in this thread; member VBBoy was credited with the 8th reply in that thread even though he did not actually post (I know this because he was temporarily listed under "Last Post By"). Notice the number of replies listed in the thread view is one more than the actual number of replies in the thread.

I can't replicate it and I don't know what could be wrong, but something's not right there.

Maybe the same thing is causing issues in http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=1020421. Some people can't see my posts from one location, but when they log in somewhere else, they can be seen fine. My bet is not all the servers are synchronized.

That would be me. I was at work this morning and noticed in that thread that people were referencing Lord Evermore's posts but I couldn't see them. Even MichaelD posted that they disappeared. I did see that he was listed as the last poster but I didn't see one post by him.

When I got home and went to the thread I saw 5 posts by him.

This has nothing to do with the servers. Someone put hide posts on for a member which was causing this issue, its a moderator feature.

OK, gotcha! Sorry about that, I was just confused about what was happening. Thanks Zuni.

So...there's a feature that lets a mod hide the content of every single post from a specific user, but not make their posts simply not appear in a list?
