There is a spider on my ceiling

Wow, and my mom freaks out at the tiny spiders we get here! LOL. The other day the cat found a beetle and was playing with it. My mom was totally freaking out when I picked up the beetle. I'm like "what?". I wanted to let the cat eat it actually but was not sure how healthy that is. I know spider are bad.

Not to doubt you, but the pictures don't look anything alike. The only commonality is they're both brown and have 8 legs.

is it some other species/family or something? It looks nothing like the ones they always warn you about. Those spiders are the ones that freak me out the most. We have some that look sorta like it, but not quite.
