there is a slight smell coming from my psu...

it's not very strong and i only notice it if i sniff it. it kinda smells like something is slightly burnt. is this common? or is this a bad sign?
 
Eh I would keep my eye on it... general rule is a burning smell is bad comming from any part of your computer.
 
well... i guess this is bad news. becuz the machine that psu was in was kinda unstable all of a sudden. replaced ram, hd, & video card... reinstalled OS... still unstable. then i replaced the psu and now the rig is fine. sniffed the psu... smelled funky. ah crap. looked like i gotta bury it 🙁
 
If its a new PSU it might be normal.

Kind of like the smell you get from a new monitor that gradually dissappears over time.

Then again it might go up in flames
