Roaring wind and howling skies,
Unseen fires stinking up my day,
Smoke in the sky,
ashes,
ashes,
ashes.

Because of the fires, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency for San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. The proclamation allows the state Office of Emergency Services to deploy personnel and equipment to assist in the various firefights.

I'd like to stick up my middle finger and give a collective "f you" to all the assholes who ignored evacuation orders and now have to be rescued, taking firefighters away from containment efforts. Stupid f'ing idiots.

I was not told to evacuate yet.

Yeah, I know, that totally ruined the dramatics of it, didn't it?

Well my parents were told to evacuate. So I'll be a bit pissed if their house is threatened because some stupid selfish assholes decided to ignore the evacuations and then, upon realizing that someone might have known what they were talking about, suddenly cried out for help.

Yeah definitely, although right now, most of the evacuations in my country are because of the smoky air. This damned wind going 60mph isn't helping either.
I live near the ocean, and there was some blue sky going on, but now its all...bleh.

My parents are only a few miles from the fire, but thank god they're across the freeway from it. So they've got the odds on their side right now, but fire jumping a freeway is certainly not unheard of. Needless to say we're all a bit on edge.

The best consolation is that this is almost exactly what happened with the Cedar fire 4 years ago - the fire was a few miles away across the freeway, and it was stopped before it could make the jump.
