LG SSD drives totally blows.. RMA 3 already, trying to pull the data out..

Bad block encounter, some stuff is still readable, copying asap 🙁

If they do, it's probably just more of the substandard stuff they make. Today we are having our LG dishwasher (still just under the warranty) completely rebuilt; just two yrs. old and it sounds like a Mack truck. Our stove and microwave have both had two warranty calls apiece. Want to buy Korean? Go Samsung.
 
You're worrying me, a local TV shop whose employees sounded unusually knowledgeable (ie. they could answer the technical questions I asked, including some test ones) recommended an LG over a Samsung.
 
OMG LG is the worst company in the world and all their stuff blow up. monitors suck

Their washer and dryer is pretty sweet tho LOL

LG is a very bad company from Korea IMO. You took a LG SSD cuz it was cheaper, and now you learned your listen to pay a bit more and get a more reputable purchase.

TVs are probably one place where LG might be better than Samsung. A lot of Samsung TVs have had problems, should as the glass cracking for no reason whatsoever. It was really a big problem at one point - hopefully they fixed it by now.
 
Whatever you do, avoid Mushkin/Sandforce 2nd-gen drives.

I have been having nothing but trouble with my Chronos Deluxe 240GB model.

I thought it was hosed completely, since Windows 7 wouldn't even install to the drive.

But I plugged it into my HDD dock on my Rosewill Blackhawk (connected to a SATA2 port on my P35 mobo), and it was recognized.

I was able to go into Disk Management, delete the partition, re-create the partition, and do a full format. It made it more than halfway through, and then it stopped incrementing the percentage, and then the drive simply disappeared. Out of Device Manager too.

Whoever said you could "reset" 2nd-gen SandForce drives by doing a secure erase, was wrong. This all happened AFTER a supposedly successful secure erase procedure. The drive indicates (in Linux) that it does not support "Enhanced" Secure Erase. And the Normal Secure Erase completes so quickly, I cannot believe that it is purging flash pages.

I bought my 240gb Mushkin Chronos about 8 months ago - have secure erased it a few times and written and deleted stuff way more times than I probably should have. Kept the firmware updated throughout the time and it have NEVER given me any problems.

They can't be any worse than the 1st gen Sandforce.

Recently updated my Vertex 2's that have been sitting in a drawer for 10 months to the latest firmware that is supposed to fix the sleep issues, installed W7 - and, who would have guessed it - the sleep of death still exists.

Our dishwasher sounds like crap as well lol, but microwave and TVs are fine.

When did they start making SSDs?

Or does have have an LG laptop which most likely uses OCZ SSD?
 
I say for a while.. I pull these out of dells laptops, half were samsung, never fail, half were LGs, dropping like flies

I’ve had nothing but trouble with Samsung personally.

PC DVD/RW drive – worked well for two months, then died.

DVD/VCR combo standalone – the DVD player consistently struggles with basic playback of most DVDs. It easily loses tracking and can’t be relied on to play a whole movie properly.

Washing machine – cold water pump failed after about six months. Was fixed under warranty, but now the drum has started squeaking when doing a spin cycle.

OTOH the only LG product I’ve owned is my current PC Blu-ray/DVD-RW combo drive, and it’s been flawless.

Most of those devices are not Samsung's forte. Samsung makes solid SSD's, great displays (LCD and AMOLED; Plasma not so much), very good phones. They don't make the best DVD/Blu Ray players (standalone) and I think their home appliance department is hit or miss too.
