Didn't have such a good day yesterday :( Got home from work, kid was playing a game on the 2nd PC. Accidently Alt-Tab'd out and wouldn't switch back. Tried Ctrl-Alt-Del, but it wouldn't bring focus for some odd reason. So had to press the reset button. Well, upon reset, I get a black screen. After fooling with all the connections, swapping PCI cards in/out, removing sticks of RAM, reseating CPU, trying another PSU, damn thing still wouldn't POST. So I pulled another motherboard out I had laying around (old one that I wasn't sure even worked anymore), and got the same thing... a black screen. So I put the original Motherboard back in, and BAM, the thing boots up! So, I'm finally feeling a little relieved, thinking things are looking better. Yeah right. Gets to the XP logo, and just locks. Tried safe mode, same thing. Booted to the XP CD to do a repair, but no luck. So decide to take the HDD out, put in my external enclosure on the 1st PC to backup all the important data, only to find the folders protected (but no big deal, just took ownership over it and all was good). Now, all the data's backed up, time to reinstall XP. Rush Rush Rush.......BAM....OOOPS. Forgot the 40 Gig HDD that was originally in my external enclosure on the end of my desk. :| Yeah, my luck.... now it just makes a loud whirling sound when you turn it on, then click click click. Darned things 5 years old, so I guess it was good while it lasted. Only 40 Gigs anyway, not like its huge, like say a 300 gig :p But 40 gigs can hold a good bit and can be helpful sometimes.

Well, finally got XP reinstalled. Things starting to look a little better. Yeah? No. Mouse works for 1-25 minutes, then just dies (Optical light dimms and doesn't respond). Unplug, put back in. Redetects it, works for 2 sec's then same thing. Put in PS/2 port, same thing. Put it on the other PC, same thing. GRRRRR. Now I need a new mouse. Not to mention getting the wireless back on the network was a pain for some odd reason this round. It just didn't want to work like it should, but I ended up getting it finally. So all in all, I didn't have to buy a new motherboard (yippe), lost a 40 Gig HDD and a mouse, and spent tooooo many hours trying to fix the darned thing! What a day, just glad it's over :D Glad to let the steam out on you guys :D Now on with today :)

BTW didn't know where to post, so sorry if it's wrong section.
