in my phlegm. It's been happening for a while now, I think I may have a sinus or throat problem, but when I clear my throat and spit, there are sometimes specks of blood in my phlegm. Especially when I gargle and try to clear/clean my throat that way.

I noticed it especially today while showering after running a mile.

And yes, I am going to see a doctor asap.

updated 2/12:

Well I'm not dead yet. Incidentally, I went to the doctor's a while back and she sprayed this amazing decongestent up my nose, and then stuck a camera up it as well.

For nasal fetishists everywhere, this is an experience I recommend, it was the most oddly satisfying experience I have had in a while.

Anyway, she didnt think there was any lung or throat inflammation unusual to my problem of a small polyp building up near my left sinus.

Anyway, I had blood in my phlegm again today, after running a mile. I stick my tongue behind my isthmus of the fauces and the intense breathing and friction of the tongue produce what I imagine is some kind of friction on the sensitive skin, slightly rupturing it, and producing bleeding that appears when I spit.

srsly? You've never had blood in your snot before? Every morning I clear my nose, the first expulsion is basically one giant gelatinous dark red blob.

Your throat is dry and irritated. Don't do cough drops, lemon + honey in warm water will lubricated the dryness and calm down the irritation. Dr will just give you constipation pills.

Is the phlegm coming from your sinuses or lungs?

If its coming from your lungs, get a TB skin test.

Your local health department should be able to give you a TB test for just a couple of dollars. I got my test last year, the result was negative.

I'll get on that. There's something I am allergic to. Not sure if its diet or these damn plants, but I want to figure out what it is and obliterate it

doubt it's TB though, I dont think any strein is mild enough to produce the kind of symptoms of I am having.

Blood in your phlegm that you cough up? Time to see a Dr & stop relying on internet doctors. (Even doctors of pizza)

See your doctor to assess the possibilities.
Could be as simple as allergies, or as bad as cancer, or as weird as an auto-immune (Wegener's granulomatosis). But dont get freaked out the benign causes are by far the more frequent.
If its just mucosal drying from allergies, robitusson or mucinex can do wonders to lessen minor mucosal bleeding.

Time to see your doctor to be safe. Hope all is well.
