Angels, apostles and other mythological characters have a longer shelf life. Many of them last thousands of years before being replaced by different mythological creatures, so kids stuck with the names won't be quite at noticeable. 15 years from now the only way Khaleesi can be anything other than an extinct, silly name is if GRRM still has not finished the series.

Those names weren't always thousands of years old, at one time they would have been just as new as Khaleesi is now.

Names have constantly shifted in and out of fashion with parents making their choice on royals and popular local figures.

If I ever meet a girl name Khaleesi, I'm just going to call her Frodo.

Parents are terrible.

more like from india

No, more like black American. I don't know anything about the show its referencing and that that was also my first thought. They have a penchant for invented vaguely Arabic/African sounding names.

So, I had to partake in the hype. No, I didn't name my daughter Khaleesi, but I just ordered this onesie for her:

Kind of appropriate, since she was born in the year of the dragon.

So if George R.R. Martin follows his penchant for killing/mutilating characters you love or otherwise turning them into crippled psychopaths, I wonder if any of these parents will feel really stupid.

There are some reviews for the Khaleesi T-shirts on Amazon that mention this, while others make fun of those reviews.

Anyways we already know that the Khaleesi has no problem with killing.

This was my first thought as well. Might want to wait until the books are actually finished before naming a child after a character.
